Ballylongford Oyster Festival 2027
Runs daily until Mon, 2 Aug
About this event
Celebrating over 34 years of tradition, this community-driven festival transforms the historic coastal village of Ballylongford into a lively hub of food, music, and entertainment every August Bank Holiday weekend. The Seafood Banquet is the crown jewel of the weekend. This highly popular sit-down dinner features a sumptuous spread of fresh local oysters, mussels, and other seafood delights. Famous for its street competitions, including the breakneck Oyster-Swallowing Contest, the highly competitive Barman's Race, and the "Welly-Drag" racing. Alongside the food, the festival incorporates historical guided walks through Ballylongford's deep heritage landscape, including landmarks like Lislaughtin Abbey and Carrigafoyle Castle.
